Location
Atlanta, GA
Project Scope
The 200 Edgewood building is located within the MLK Historic District and within the Georgia State University Campus in downtown Atlanta. The project included the restoration of two historic structures – the first Atlanta Haverty’s furniture store and showroom and the Boys Branch for the Butler Street YMCA.
200 Edgewood was the first project developed and opened on the new Atlanta Street Car route which added to the complexity of the project as Edgewood Avenue could never be completely blocked. Further, Edgewood Avenue is also the ambulance route for Grady Hospital, the region’s #1 Trauma Center, requiring clear passage 24 hours a day.
The building fits property line to property line and required seismic monitoring for the first six months of construction to ensure no damage to surrounding historic structures through construction activities.
